Your Grief Will be Turned to Joy

30 11 2011

Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.” Jn. 16:20. When you lose someone you really love, it’s hard to believe that you’ll ever feel okay about it. Recently I received knowledge of the loss of someone I really loved. I thought about the disciples when Jesus died on the cross and wondered if they believed Jesus’ words that their grief will turn to joy. Right now it’s hard for me to ever believe my loss will ever feel okay.

In our “Growing Seasons” groups we tell the children that “feeling is healing” and they won’t always feel the way they do. I guess now is the time I have to words into practice on myself. Yes, feeling is healing, you don’t have to like it but if you want to heal, you have to feel the pain.
